Family Discord and the Fish Incident
I was at my job (animal care for an exhibit at a museum) where my brother, whom I do not talk to sue to his violent nature where he yells at people, takes advantage of, and threats, was yelling at my mom because of an unknown reason, a stranger walked by and he said “don’t worry, she is just having a stroke because of how old she is!!” And he laughed and pulled out a knife, he stabbed a fish and said “look! Just like how this fish had a stroke!!” And he did it again to another fish, in those tanks, there are supposed to be turtles, I ran to my boss and she jumped down from an aquarium she was working on in real life she was working on and took out a taser and tased him, he was arrested. My parents did not notice and my mom sat there crying as my dad comforted her. I went to a scene were I was not actually but it was my brother sitting in the trunk of a van sobbing while eating the fish and screaming “I murdered a fish”
Dreams often reflect our emotions, experiences, and unresolved issues from our waking life. Let's break down the elements of your dream and explore their possible meanings:
-
Setting (Job and Museum):
- Your workplace being in the dream suggests that you might be dealing with stress or challenges associated with your responsibilities or environment. Museums often symbolize the preservation of memories or knowledge, which could mean you are reflecting on past family interactions or dynamics.
-
Your Brother's Violent Behavior:
- Your brother’s violent and aggressive behavior in the dream reflects your real-life perception of him. It could signify feelings of fear, anger, or unresolved tension regarding his behavior towards your family. His disputes with your mom could suggest concern for her well-being and the impact of stressful family dynamics on her.
-
The Unknown Stranger and Stroke Comment:
- The stranger represents unfamiliar elements or individuals intruding into your personal or family matters. The mention of a "stroke" could symbolize vulnerability, fear of losing control, or health concerns related to aging, particularly around your mother.
-
Fish and Symbolic Violence:
- Fish are often symbols of deeper thoughts, emotions, or spiritual matters. In your dream, the violent act of stabbing the fish might represent the emotional wound or harm caused by your brother's actions, both in real life and metaphorically. The mention of a stroke in relation to the fish might symbolize the impact of stress or trauma on your family’s emotional or mental health.
-
Absence of Turtles:
- Turtles could represent wisdom, endurance, or protection. Their absence may signify a feeling of lack of protection or wisdom in handling the familial situation.
-
Your Boss's Intervention:
- Your boss's courageous intervention with a taser demonstrates your need or desire for external authority or intervention in resolving family conflict. It implies a feeling of empowerment or your wish for a decisive solution to the problem.
-
Parents' Reaction:
- Your parents not noticing the incident but your mother crying could symbolize emotional blindness or denial in your family about the real issues. It suggests the need for emotional support and acknowledgment of the situation.
-
Brother in the Van:
- This scene might represent your subconscious view of your brother’s vulnerability and guilt. Sitting in a trunk might depict feelings of isolation or being trapped in his actions and behaviors. Eating the fish and lamenting about it may symbolize remorse or the internal conflict he may feel about the consequences of his behavior.
Overall Interpretation:
This dream could be expressing your deeper anxieties and unresolved emotions related to family conflict, particularly concerning your brother's behavior. It's an exploration of your need for resolution, protection for family members, and intervention to restore peace.
